Isla Frame

Here is the second frame for the week. It is using the same papers as the Tahlia frame however I have covered some wooden letters with the papers instead of stamping them.
Two down, two to go!

Tahlia Frame

Here is a frame I have just completed for a friend for her new little neice Tahlia. It took a while to get the colour combination right but after lots of swapping squares and embellishments around, I am happy with the final product.

It is one of several that I have going at the moment and look forward to sharing the others with you once completed.

Final Market

Well today was my last market for the year. They have certainly kept me busy over the last 6 months but I have really enjoyed them. Not only a chance to relax a bit but also an opportunity to check out some other great stalls and sit with others that share my passion for crafts and design. So today in Yarraville we had a steady flow of people throughout the day and as the Christmas carols played it was the first time I realised how close we are to Christmas! The Christmas cards were popular and also the packs of Christmas tags. Now the last thing for me to do this year is to make and send my own cards!

Portarlington Workshop

I headed to Portarlington again last Tuesday to do another card class at the Neighbourhood house. They had requested some type of masculine card so I had to think a bit and I came up with these cards. It was a bit like origami and involved folding a piece of paper (4 x 6 in) to create the shirt. The other card looks at using lots of layering and tearing of the paper which works well in make cards. This reduces the amount of stamping on the cards which some males are not too fussed about!

The weekend...

I want to say a big thank you to those who came to the Maribrynong Makers Market in Seddon on the weekend. I had a great little location in the strip of marquees between the band and the farm animals so it certainly was not quiet!
Hundreds of people braved the heat and came and visited me and the many other great stall holders. Unfortunately I did not get to check out the other stalls at the church site so hopefully next time I'll be able to take a break and check them out!
I still have a lot of Christmas cards left so please email me if you want to put a order in.

Christmas Cards

So it has been two weeks since my last post and I have managed to get about 70 christmas cards made and ready for the market tomorrow. Fortunately I have a lot of birthday, baby, and wedding cards amongst others, left from my last market so I have not had to make any more of them. So above I have posted a few of the cards I have made. Some of these cards have been inspired by others I have seen online so thanks to those who have given me an idea and then got the ball rolling.
Hopefully I will see many of you tomorrow at the market. All details are posted on the right of this page. I will be packing plenty of water and sunscreen and ready to brave the heat!

Christmas is coming....

Well I am not going to even try and think about how many days there are until Christmas but I know it has come too soon.
I have posted a link (on the right of the page) to the next Maribyrnong Makers Market in Seddon on November 14th. As you can see, it is the Christmas market. And yes, that scares me. It is only 2 weeks away and I have yet to get started on making my Christmas cards.
It certainly will be a busy two weeks for me trying to get enough cards ready for the market. I always have great ideas for all the things I will make for the markets and then time is not on my side and I end up with a mad rush in the days leading up to it.
So enough typing for me, time to get started on these cards!

Nurses thank you card....

I thought I would share with you a card I made for the nurses that have been looking after my brother. He finally came home hospital and we wanted to say a big thank you to those that have been caring for him for the last 16 months.
Of course we didn't want them to forget him so I made this card and used a similar layout to the frames I have been doing but incorporated photos of him during his time in hospital into it.
It was a A4 size card with lots of squares that combined both papers and photos. I must say that it was loved by the nurses and now takes centre spot on their noticeboard. It was a emotional time both making the card and giving it to the nurses and we are all happy to have him home.

Frames, Frames, Frames!

Many of you have seen the frames I have been creating over the last year. I thought I would share some of them with you here on my blog
(if you click on the picture you should be able to see it larger).
The 'Cody', 'Luka' and 'Jonathon' frames were all done using the same papers but were slightly altered in order to suit the frames.
The 'Mia' frame is one that Kelly and I have been doing workshops on. It is very popular and is a great one for a girls room.
The 'Atsuya' frame is one I completed last week and is for a friend of mine who has just had a baby. Well I shouldn't say 'just'- Atsuya is now more than 2 months old and I am a little slow in getting his present finished. I have tried to make it not too 'baby like' and used some old Japanese papers in some of the squares.

Hope you like looking at the frames.
I am able to do custom orders for anyone that would like one.
Please just email me.

Market Weekend.

Well it was another busy weekend. Not only did I manage to work that 'real job' we all must have to keep the bank manager happy (!!) but I had a stall at the Yarraville Market as well as helped out at the Mossfiel Childrens Centre Fete. The photo here is of my stall at Yarraville. Thanks to those that took a break from the beautiful sunny Saturday here in Melbourne and came inside to the Yarraville market. I will be back there in December with loads of Christmas cards. If you want to order any before then, please email me and I will be happy to organise some samples for you.

I need to take better photos!!

I wanted to post some of the latest creations that I have made for recent markets. I quickly tried to photograph them before I sold them but as you can see from the photos, they didn't turn out too well. Some of these sold so I cant take the photos again! I need to take the shot before I put the plastic on I think!

Portarlington Workshop

Tomorrow I am heading to Portarlington again to do another workshop at the Neighbourhood house with the card club. There is a great group of ladies that meet there every week and I love heading down there and teaching them some new techniques. One of the cards we are going to make tomorrow comes courtesy of Karen. She demonstrated this at the recent Picture to Page expo and I fell in love with it. Thanks Karen!!

As you can see, its all made of punches. No stamping is required and its a great way to use all the punches and all that scrap paper that is lying around.

Demonstration

So here is the photo of the card I demonstrated at Picture to Page that I promised you. I have been leading a hectic life and hope to be more up to date with my blogs!
I do need to work on my photo taking. A little blurry I am sorry.

From Picture to Page

The above photo is of myself and Kelly Bowen, who is a successful Stampin Up demonstrator. This was our stand at the From Picture to Page show yesterday along with Tania Lown and Karen Dillon. We have many ladies come visit us throughout the day and I was amazed at how many already have loads of SU products and attend workshops with other demonstrators. We had some great items on display from some talented demonstrators which included Kerri Hunter, Melinda Rowe, Michelle Grech, Yvonne Campbell, Karen Woods and Debbie Pamment (sorry if I missed a name!)
I came home so inspired and look forward to when I find time to get creative with all these new ideas in my head.
As well as booking workshops and classes, we demonstrated some techniques. Tomorrow I shall post a photo of the technique that I was
demonstrating.
So keep your eye out for events like these as you get to learn a lot about what you can do with your products.

Tomorrow is the second day of the From Picture to Page show happening at the The Whitehorse Club in East Burwood. It is in its 10th year and there is a Stampin Up stand that I will be working at. So come along and see what we have to offer. It runs from 10-430pm and there are lots of demonstrations and door prizes.

My first Christmas Card!

When I was asked last month to do a Christmas card for a workshop, I could not believe it was that time of year again. So this is what we made together. It uses the Season of Joy stamp set together with Old Olive and Rose Red papers. It was created with a very easy sponging technique and hope to make a lot more of them before Christmas time. I need to get started now!

Baby shower invitations.

I thought I would share with you what I have been creating. My latest project is designing some baby shower invitations for a customer. The request was to have a pregnant silhouette. Let me know your thoughts on this card. The card stock is all Stampin Up! and is Very Vanilla and Mellow Moss with a little bit of Close to Cocoa.

MMM

Busy, Busy, Busy....
Another busy week at work ended with my stall at the Maribyrnong Makers Market in Seddon on Saturday. I honestly think the market is cursed with the weather as once again, we battled the rain and wind throughout the day. But fortunately, the crowds didn't stay away and we had people stopping by all day. Thank you to all those that came along and purchased some cards. I look forward to the next MMM in November where it plans to be twice as big! Both at the church and at the park down the street. I will have to start now making more cards and getting started on Christmas cards.
I am also busy with orders for wedding invites and baby shower cards and I hope to have some samples on here soon.

Getting Everything Ready....

Well I was busy cutting away last night getting ready for my workshop tomorrow. I am heading to Portarlington in the morning and will do a class at the Neighbourhood house. There will be around 12 lovely ladies looking forward to learning some new techniques and picking up their latest orders. I shall post our creations after the class tomorrow.
Also I have to prepare for the Frame Workshop on Sunday. Kelly and I have been busy planning a workshop where we are using many great SU products and framing them. They are a great gift.
Ok, back to my cutting....

The first blog!

Well it is time that I get with the times and join all the others with the blogs! I hope I will be able to keep you all updated with what is happening in the Stampin Up! world. I will post the latest specials and of course the next workshops that are happening.

I will start by thanking those that came to the July workshop last weekend. A great afternoon of weaving, embossing and punching (paper that is!). For those that missed out, here is one of the cards we created.
This card was very popular on the weekend at the Yarraville market. I had a stall there and owls must be in fashion at the moment as all my owl cards were the first to sell! There was a large demand for baby cards too so I need to start getting creative and thinking of new cards.
That's all from me for today. I shall keep you all updated.
